Volunteer for Mathcounts

Description :

Mathcounts is a National Program established to promote math at the middle school level.  Each year competitions are held at the local, state, and national levels.

The Northern California Chapter of the APWA has been assisting this program for the past several years by providing volunteers to assist two Mathcounts events in the Bay Area.  Events are scheduled for two (2) Saturdays in February, and will take place at the UC Berkeley Campus on February 10th and at Harvest Park Middle School in Pleasanton on February 24th.  Volunteers will assist teachers and program staff in each of the competition activities. It is easy and fun!

Volunteers are needed to assist in the following competition activities:

·         8:15 am to 9:15 am                Initial Setup

·         9:00 am to 12:00 pm              Competition (proctoring/scoring)

·         1:00 pm to 1:30 pm                Final Countdown and Awards

It’s incredibly rewarding for such a small time commitment.  We have a number of regular volunteers, and as they already know, the teachers, parents and the students greatly appreciate our contributions.  We hope to see newer volunteers join our  “volunteer” program.

Please contact Felicia Dean at Felicia.dean@kimley-horn.com if you need any additional information.

We thank you in advance in anticipation of your support.
